My Story
As a momma to two young kiddos, I was struggling with brain fog, night sweats, heart palpitations, hair loss, irregular periods, and an overwhelming jittery feeling. I attributed all these “symptoms” to being a new mom (not eating or sleeping regularly). I was joyfully putting the needs of my family before my own. Wasn’t it normal for mommas to feel this way?
I had been diagnosed with Graves’ Disease several years earlier, but never really gave the diagnosis much life. I was too busy to be sick! During an appointment with my endocrinologist, he recommended ablating my thyroid with a radioactive pill, then taking a replacement thyroid pill for the rest of my life. I was in shock. The rest of my life? I told him this was a last resort for me. He assured me it was very common and really not a big deal. But it was a big deal to me. This was not okay.
I began to research Graves’ Disease and found diet and lifestyle changes I could make on my own. Slowly, I started changing the foods I ate. I changed the products I used on my skin. I changed the products we used to clean our home. I changed the fabrics we wore. I began listening to my body. And with all these changes, I noticed healing in my body. I started to feel better. I could speak in complete sentences. I could wake up feeling rested and ready for the day. I could make it through the day without stimulants. I began losing weight, my skin was clearer, my hair was shiny and healthy, and I had the energy to be the wife and momma I wanted to be for my family.
I continued monitoring my thyroid levels with the endocrinologist. He was impressed with my progress, but was not interested in my journey. When I shared the diet and lifestyle changes I implemented, he discounted them by saying, “There’s no scientific evidence that those work.” But I was the anecdotal evidence! I was disheartened with my experience working with the conventional medical community. I wanted more. I deserved more. I wondered if others had similar experiences. I wondered if I could guide them on their journey. My passion inspired me to pursue holistic health coaching.
I am currently in remission from my Graves’ Disease, off all medications, and living a vibrant, energized, fulfilling life. I have taken responsibility for my health, because the investment is valuable. Are you ready to transform your life?
